EVE TEITELBAUM REED

EVE's (ET) dynamic is the voluptuous turmoil between light and dark

An exotic black rose, a reflection of creation. .

Large rivers of color connect and reform in a tactile perpendicular angle to life.

Connecting Earth, Time, Space, Language and Culture As the ocean connects the Sky and Sand.

An expressive fascination with the immaterial made material.

The relationship of the intuitive and the actual flow and interconnect in her work.

It is at once bold and mysterious, figurative and metaphysical.

Exploding from the subconscious yet grounded in the real.

The qualities of light and texture, translucency and solidity are apparent in her works.

Light as seen through a painting, diaphanous, the ephemeral overlay of incident fragility.

Sculptural elements...mass, object and tone.

Hands that lift paint, and move and dance with the color.

The physical act of painting, engaging both body and psyche .

Till as through an ever shifting veil

 Luminescent

Bold strokes in strong times

 Creating the Self, yet anew

With strength movement and energy

To answer the big question

What is the meaning of life?

TIME and ART

ART being the ability to transcend TIME

Is but another doorway to our dreams.

HISTORY

Eve Teitelbaum Reed

Born: 1954, Metropolitan Area

Painting and writing have been an assemblage

A means of creating for the tribe, from the

first paintings in blood and ash on the cave walls of Lascaux.

Both are integral to the advancement of man through the

subconscious projection becoming the physical projection.

A way of recording... an era ...a sense...the currents of history.

Art is a passion worlds apart from what man's daily life suggests.

Through universal concepts we approach the eternal

Through our psyche we manifest the relationships of

Earth, Time, Space, Language, and Culture that exists in

Temporal time, yet alludes to the Mysterious.

A rational man always asks why!...

Often there is no answer.

Art, by its sublime approach to the Eternal

Seeks to dance with those questions.

During the 80's Eve worked with the multi- media groups of COLAB and FUSION ARTS.

Eve did multi-media work with Arleen Schloss, including a tri-borough broadcast.

Eve also collaborated briefly with PLEXUS.

Many of these shows were in restaurants and nightclubs, relating to Colab's credo

as to the immediacy and impermanency of art.

Some were filmed for international broadcast.

Colab did many shows at Cuando, where they filled an entire former school

with art and performance.

Eve both coordinated these events, as well as executing an installation

and performance which was filmed by Joseph Nechvatel

Her work also surfaced at ABC NO RIO, where she has a brief appearance in the book

(ABC NO RIO NO DINERO) related to her appearance in

"Seven Days in Creation...the EVE Cycle", coordinated by Alan Moore. Her work there was both pictorial and multi-media.

In 1985 her work was shown at the CITY GALLERY at Columbus Circle, and her work there appeared in the magazine SAW (photo of work)

In 1986 she had a three person show at the now defunct ART SALON; Abby Chevalley's gallery

She participated in various theme shows, such as .. the Animal Show", the Furniture Show" etc.
